MATER DOLOROSA CATHOLIC SCHOOL Our school community is sensitive to the dynamics of Mater Dolorosa Church parish as well as Tangipahoa civil parish. This enables us to share personal and physical resources within our neighborhood community. The school's policies and formal education are designed within the pararmeters of our mission statement and philosophy, thus striving to enhance the parnerships with our families and neighbors. MDS provides a nurturing enviroment for all to grow in the Catholic Faith along with all other demoninational faiths. We are committed to excellence in education in which Christian values and traditions are enabled. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION...Catholic students are assisted in the preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist during the 2nd grade. AFTER SCHOOL CARE MDS offers after school care program from 2:40pm to 5:30pm. FULL SERVICE CAFETERIA LUNCH PROGRAM A full service cafeteria offering breakfast and hot lunches provided by the Baton Rouge Child Nutrition Program of Baton Rouge. PARENTAL SUPPORT ... MDS SCHOOL BOARD A 10 member elected board who are consultative to the pastor and principal. CURRICULUM Mater Dolorosa follows the Louisiana State approved comprehensive curriculum in all grade levels including lab classes, spanish, art and physical education. STANDARDIZED TESTING PROGRAM The Terra Nova Test is administered annually in the spring. Student's results are sent home. Teachers use results to aid in strengthening curriculum development.
